    Cookie Policy

    Last updated: 7 July 2026

No advertising trackers. No third-party retargeting. Australian-hosted data.

    1What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how SmartPrepai (operated by Axient AI Pty Ltd, ABN 21 688 793 151) uses cookies, browser local storage, and similar device identifiers when you visit smartprepai.com.au, smart-prepai.lovable.app, or any signed-in dashboard.

It applies to parents, students, tutors, schools, and visitors browsing the site without an account. Read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Local storage is a similar mechanism built into modern browsers that lets sites remember small pieces of data on your device.

Both are used to make websites work efficiently — for example, to keep you signed in between page loads, remember a preference you set, or measure which features get used.

    3The categories we use

Strictly necessary — required for the platform to function. These keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, secure your session, and remember which account you're switching between (parent ↔ child profiles, tutor ↔ student views). Cannot be turned off without breaking sign-in.

Functional — remember your preferences so we don't ask again: dismissed beta banner, dismissed cookie banner, selected exam target on the public site, dismissed onboarding walkthrough steps, holiday-mode and intense-mode acknowledgements, and your most recent dashboard tab.

Analytics — anonymised, aggregated information about which pages load, which features are used, and where users drop off, so we can improve the experience. We do not run third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media trackers.

Authentication tokens — set by our backend (Supabase, hosted in Sydney) to keep your session secure. These are httpOnly where possible and rotate on refresh.

    4Specific items we set

On the public marketing site: - A small flag remembering you dismissed the Beta 2026 banner. - A flag remembering you dismissed the cookie consent banner. - Anonymous analytics IDs for usage measurement.

On the signed-in app: - Auth session tokens (necessary) issued by our backend on sign-in. - A flag for your active persona (student, parent, tutor, admin) so you land on the right dashboard. - Onboarding walkthrough progress, so we don't re-show steps you completed. - Wellbeing acknowledgements — local flags that record you've seen the holiday-mode and intense-mode disclosures. - Recently selected exam track and the last practice session you opened.

5AI Study Buddy and your child's responses

When your child uses the AI Study Buddy or generates a practice quiz, their question text, answers, and methodology metrics are sent to our backend so the AI can respond and so the platform can build an honest progress picture.

This data is stored against the student's account in our Australian-hosted database with role-based access controls. It is not used to train third-party AI models. Parents linked to a child can request export or deletion at any time from the parent dashboard.

    6Third parties

We use a small, intentional set of third-party services:

    - Supabase (Sydney, Australia) — authentication, database, file storage, and edge functions. Sets necessary auth cookies on our domain. - Resend — transactional email delivery (verification, weekly digest, parent invitations). Does not set cookies in your browser. - Anthropic (Claude) — powers practice generation and Study Buddy responses. Does not set cookies in your browser. - Google Analytics and PostHog — product analytics, loaded only with your consent. - Cloudflare Turnstile — helps us tell humans from bots at sign-up.

We do not use Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or other advertising/retargeting trackers.

7How long things stay on your device

Session cookies clear automatically when you close your browser. Persistent items (banner dismissals, walkthrough progress, exam preference) typically last 12 months unless you clear your browser data sooner. Auth tokens are refreshed on use and revoked when you sign out.

    8Managing your preferences

You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Common starting points:

    - Chrome: chrome://settings/cookies - Safari: Settings → Privacy - Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security - Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

If you block all cookies and local storage, signing in will not work and most signed-in features will break. Marketing pages will still load.

    9Children's privacy

SmartPrepai is designed for use by primary and secondary school students, with parental involvement. Student accounts are linked to a verified parent or guardian wherever possible, and children's progress data is only accessible to the student, their linked parent(s), and any tutor the parent has explicitly invited.

We do not target advertising at children and do not sell or share children's data with advertisers. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on parental controls and data export.

    10Updates to this policy

We update this page when our use of cookies changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Material changes will be communicated by email to account holders.
